Day 14: 121412Officially there’s no art for today. The sketch for today was intended to be The Guardians + Jamie and Cupcake having a snow fight.  I couldn’t put that up. I couldn’t even come close to finishing it.
However, I did sketch this image to work through my feeling. So unofficially it’s the art for today, because it very much reflects how I felt on this day.

I am still reeling from the attacks in the US and in China. But even more than that, it made me think about how many children suffer and die each day who don’t make the news. How many children do our wars blow up while politicians talk about “justifications?” How many have our own drones taken? How many children are caught in crossfires, or worse, forced to be soldiers? How many are molested behind closed doors by someone who should love them?
In the real world, we adults are meant to be the guardians of children’s hopes and dreams, and too often, we’re the ones who destroy them.
So this is far not just the children who died today, but for all the children who didn’t make it through this year because we adults fail to protect them or are the ones destroying them outright.
So there is no official countdown art today, only this sketch and an artist who is feeling very old and tired.
